An old man originally from Greece has been visiting the Hot Springs with his wife because she uses the mineral water as therapy for old age. He tells me stories about World War II, how they did not have food in Greece and if he saw a seed on the ground, he did not care what it was, he would pick it up and eat it. He has gone from walking barefoot for years while working in Greece to now living in America. He says your mother gives you a lot, your father gives you more, but nobody gives you as much as your own two hands.
He raves about America. He owned a restaurant and every time a kid came in with a good report card on their birthday they would be given a free pizza and ice-cream. The man says he prays for death on a daily basis.
On a funny note: This lady was walking to the store and she saw a random cooler lying on the sidewalk, she opened it up and found a person's toe in it! She went into the store in shock, and told the people working there about the cooler with the toe in it. Then they called 911 and the operator said they will send a toe truck. lol. The last month has been pretty emotional for me, it seems a few times a week I end up crying because I am thinking of Theresa often. |
